Local events in November 2026: fireworks, markets and Christmas lights

November is when the evenings draw in and the festive season starts to take shape. This month there are fireworks to watch, craft stalls to browse, a farmers market in Old Hatfield and the Christmas lights switch-on in Welwyn Garden City. Here are seven things happening across our patch, in date order.

Hertfordshire Firework Show at Brocket Hall

Sunday 1 November, 4pm to 8pm, Brocket Hall, Welwyn. The firework show returns to Brocket Hall this year. Tickets are sold in advance, and the event listing says the 2024 and 2025 shows both sold out, so it is worth booking early.

Essendon Firework Night

Friday 6 November, Bedwell Park, Essendon. Essendon Country Club is hosting its firework night, with gates opening at 5pm and the display due at about 6.45pm. There will be food trucks, hot drinks, a bar and music through the evening. Early bird tickets were listed at £12 for adults, £7 for under 18s and free for under 3s, with parking at £10 and pre-booking only. Tickets are sold through the club's website, essendoncc.com, so check there for current prices.

Christmas Craft Fair at The Dutch Marketplace

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, The Dutch Marketplace, Great North Road, Brookmans Park. The garden centre is holding its annual Christmas Craft Fair with local makers selling handmade gifts, festive decorations and artisan food. It is listed as running from 10am on Saturday to 4pm on Sunday. Admission is free, and the Dutch Café will be open for coffee and cake.

In Remembrance concert, Potters Bar

Saturday 14 November, 3pm, St Mary's Church, Potters Bar. A concert called In Remembrance is listed on TicketSource for this date and time. We could not see a full programme, so check the TicketSource listing for details and tickets.

Old Hatfield Farmers Market

Sunday 15 November, 10am to 2pm, Salisbury Square, Old Hatfield. The market is free to enter and brings together local traders selling meat, fruit and vegetables, honey, chutneys, olives, cheese, bread, cakes and crafts. Dogs on leads are welcome. Parking is available in the multi-storey car park across the Great North Road, or free at the Hatfield Park visitors' car park via George's Gate.

Welwyn Garden City Christmas Lights Event and Light Trail

Saturday 21 November, 12pm to 6pm, Welwyn Garden City town centre. The annual Christmas Lights Event is free to attend and is run with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and the Welwyn Garden City BID. The business-funded Christmas Lights Trail starts the same day and runs until 7 January 2027, according to the BID's events page. The council's listing gives a slightly earlier start date for the trail, so check before you plan a visit.

Welwyn Garden Concert Club: Sarah-Jane Bradley and John Lenehan

Saturday 21 November, 7.30pm, St Francis Church, Church Road, Welwyn Garden City. The concert club's 82nd season continues with a recital from viola player Sarah-Jane Bradley and pianist John Lenehan. Single tickets can be bought in advance online or on the door by card or cash, and tickets for 8 to 21 year olds are free with no need to book.
